Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck La Felguera is an underwater obstruction located in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Spain near Puerto de Denia. The exact wreck position is 38 51.554 N, 0 9.282 E. Historical hydrographic survey records from the UK Hydrographic Office and Spanish authorities document the site starting in 1951 when it was initially marked by a conical buoy. Salvage operations took place intermittently through the 1950s and 1960s, with salvage buoys laid, removed, and later recommended. Over time, the wreck was charted on various Spanish nautical charts as a non-dangerous wreck, with surrounding green can buoys noted in 1974. Although a 1979 report suggested the obstruction no longer existed, subsequent Spanish chart updates into the 2000s continued to feature the La Felguera wreck at the 38 51.554 N, 0 9.282 E coordinates, though later small-scale regional charts omitted non-dangerous wrecks within shallow coastal contours.
