The shipwreck KAI KATA MARU is located at coordinates 14 21 N, 81 7.5 W in the Caribbean Sea near the coast of Nicaragua. This underwater obstruction, historically identified in surveys as a steel structure, has been documented since 1966. While initial hydrographic reports labeled the wreck as radar conspicuous, subsequent surveys conducted in 1975 determined it is no longer radar conspicuous. Further records from 1986 confirm the wreckage remains in position at 14 21.00 N, 81 07.30 W. Navigators should note this underwater hazard as a submerged steel wreck situated within the regional maritime waters of the Western Caribbean.
