Simplified Wreck Survey
The historical underwater wreck of the John Gibson is located at coordinates 51 6.085 N, 1 23.48 E off the coast of Dover near the Admiralty Pier in the English Channel. Originally charted in 1926 as a wreck with a least depth of 50 feet based on survey H522/26, the site underwent subsequent investigations. Sweeping operations in 1930 were not completed, and during a 1937 survey by HMS Kellett, the obstruction was not found and initially deleted. Although later temporarily re-charted in a different position as a non-dangerous wreck, subsequent hydrographic surveys by HMS Bulldog in 1978 and a multibeam survey by Gardline in September 2016 failed to locate the wreck, leading authorities to officially classify the record as dead and expunged.
