Simplified Wreck Survey

The historic shipwreck IONIAN is located at coordinates 51 36.143 N, 4 57.465 W off the coast of Wales in the Bristol Channel. Historical survey records from the UK Hydrographic Office note that the site features substantial structural remains, including boilers and engines standing about 22 feet high alongside large quantities of torn steel plating reaching 12 to 15 feet high. Although a later 1980 sonar and sounding search by HMS Woodlark found nothing in the immediate area and local lobster fishermen had no knowledge of the wreck, official records retain the data for historical archiving.
