The HMSM XE 8 is a sunken British midget submarine wreck located off the coast of Portland, England in the English Channel at coordinates 50 33.051 N, 2 21.179 W. Originally lost on November 23, 1954, while being moored as a target, the vessel was initially charted at a depth of 13 fathoms before being updated to 24 meters and later 23 meters. Although salvage operations and local investigations were documented throughout the 1950s and 1970s, historical records confirm that the submarine was successfully lifted in May 1973 for display at the Imperial War Museum.
