Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck HMS Texas is an underwater obstruction located off the coast of Jamaica at the geographical coordinates 17 55.250 N, 76 47.936 W. Originally serving as an examination vessel during the war, the ship sank following a collision. Modern hydrographic survey data confirms the wreck sits in a general water depth of 32 meters with a least depth clearance of 13.72 meters. The vessel measures 39.3 meters in length, 7.7 meters in width, and retains a height of 18.62 meters. Orientated at 118 degrees, the wreck remains largely intact in its original shape, although the deck is heavily degraded. Recent site examinations identify a scour area measuring 16.4 meters by 60.8 meters with a depth of 1 meter trending towards 029 degrees. Historical records note the wreck was previously known as an obstruction swept clear at 8 fathoms. The site is officially recognized by the Jamaican Port Authority and remains a charted underwater feature.
