Historically reported as a sunken vessel, the site has been subject to multiple hydrographic surveys by the UK Hydrographic Office. Despite its initial entry in 1919, repeated modern sonar surveys conducted in 1989, 2004, and 2008 failed to locate any structural remains on the seabed. Due to these extensive searches, the wreck of HMS SOPHRON is now classified as dead or non-existent at this charted position. While previously marked on maritime charts as a depth of 11 meters, the area is currently considered clear of this specific obstruction.
