Simplified Wreck Survey

The underwater wreck of the HMS Nordhav II possibly part of is located off the coast of Scotland near Dundee at coordinates 56 41.898 N, 2 5.347 W. This highly degraded historic shipwreck was examined using DGPS revealing a least multibeam depth of 68 meters within a general depth of 70.9 meters. The site features a scour 0.3 meters deep extending 30 meters along a 030/210 degree orientation with structural dimensions measuring 25 meters in length 10 meters in width and a height of 2.9 meters lying on a 060/240 degree heading accompanied by a moderate magnetic anomaly.

Circumstances of loss

BUILT IN 1913. ONE BOILER, TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE, SINGLE SHAFT. A NORWEGIAN TRAWLER, IMPOUNDED AFTER THE GERMAN OCCUPATION OF NORWAY. TAKEN INTO SERVICE WITH THE RN AS A HIRED VESSEL FROM 1940 AS A MINESWEEPER. TORPEDOED BY U-714. (SIBI & COLLEDGE).
