BUILT IN 1911 BY CALEDON SHIPBUILDING & ENGINEERING CO. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY STRAITS SS CO. PASSAGE SINGAPORE FOR AUSTRALIA WITH REFUGEES OF BETWEEN 100-200 NURSES, WOMEN & CHILDREN. BOMBED & SUNK BY JAPANESE AIRCRAFT OFF BANGKA ISLAND. 150 PERSONS REACHED POMPONG ISLAND & WERE PICKED UP SOON AFTERWARD BY SMALL COASTER, WHICH WAS ITSELF SUNK BY GUNFIRE SHORTLY AFTERWARDS, ONLY THREE PERSONS SURVIVED, THE REMAINDER BEING KILLED OR TAKEN PRISONER. (DODS).
