17.11.14 EX-STRANTON. BUILT IN 1899. ONE BOILER, TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE, SINGLE SHAFT. HIRED FROM 17.11.14 AS AN ARMED BOARDING OR EXAMINATION VESSEL AND EMPLOYED IN THE DOVER STRAITS. SANK AT NIGHT WITH ALL HANDS FOLLOWING A COLLISION WITH SS EIRVAN OFF THE NORTH GOODWINS IN VERY ROUGH WEATHER. THE BOW OF SS EIRVAN WAS STOVE IN AND BENT FOUR INCHES TO STBD. CREW OF 17 ALL LOST. (SIBI).
