Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck of HMS Blazer lies in the coastal waters of the Isles of Scilly, off the southwest coast of Cornwall, England, positioned at coordinates 49 54.603 N, 6 19.705 W (diver survey coordinates 49°54'34"N, 06°19'39"W). Originally documented by the UK Hydrographic Office and charted as a wreck in July 1920 on British Admiralty charts BA 883 and BA 34, the site was updated to dangerous wreck status in 1928. Official records show the vessel was sold by the Ministry of Transport to Mann, McNeill and Company in October 1919. A comprehensive underwater survey conducted by divers from HMS Drake in January 1967 examined the site, locating the wreckage resting on a rugged seabed of rock and weed in a general depth of 27 feet (8.2 meters). The survey established a least depth over the obstruction of 7 feet (2.1 meters or 1.24 fathoms), with echo sounder equipment recording a least depth of 9 feet. Today, the wreck of HMS Blazer is a documented shallow-water maritime obstruction and historic dive point among the rocky reefs of the Isles of Scilly archipelago.
