Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck Hjaelperen is located in the waters of the Little Belt strait, Denmark, at coordinates 55 18.717 N, 9 39.6 E. Historical hydrographic survey records from the UK Hydrographic Office and Danish wreck databases indicate the vessel was originally reported in this position during 1960. Following initial surveys, the position was amended in November 1960. Subsequent wreck records from 1972 suggest that the structural integrity of the Hjaelperen was evaluated as being dispersed to the level of the seabed. Although the site remained noted on Danish nautical charts for several years, it was officially classified as dead and removed from active maritime charts by 1980. The site remains a historical underwater obstruction point within Danish coastal waters.
