CAPTAIN MAINE IN COMMAND, 635 PASSENGERS AND CREW ON BOARD. PASSAGE LIVERPOOL TO MONTREAL WITH GENERAL CARGO. HIT AMIDSHIPS AT 2030 BUT DID NOT SINK FOR SEVERAL HOURS. 32 PERSONS LOST THEIR LIVES, REMAINDER TOOK TO BOATS AND WERE RESCUED. VESSEL TOWED TO QUEENSTOWN BUT FOUNDERED AFTER MAKING 35M. (DODS).
