AFTER TOWING THE WHITE STAR LINER 'GEORGIC' FROM THE RED SEA TO KARACHI FOR 23 DAYS (THEN THE LONGEST TOW ON RECORD FOR A SHIP OF THIS SIZE), WAS ON PASSAGE ADEN FOR CALCUTTA. TORPEDOED BY A JAPANESE SUBMARINE & SUNK OFF SOCOTRA. ALL 85 OF CREW SAVED. (LLWW2 & AXIS SUBMARINE SUCCESSES).
