Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck known as Gowrie (possibly) is located off the northeast coast of Scotland in the North Sea at coordinates 56 57.387 N, 2 1.796 W. Originally located in 1967 and further examined in 2009 using DGPS, the intact and upright wreck lies oriented in a 040/220 degree direction with its bow facing northeast. The site features a strong magnetic anomaly and sits at a least multibeam depth of 53.92 meters within a general surrounding depth of 57.6 meters. Structural descriptions note that the wreck has a length of 34 meters, a width of 9 meters, a height of approximately 3.7 meters, and is surrounded by a scour measuring 1.6 meters deep that extends 3.4 meters towards the northeast end.
