Simplified Wreck Survey

The Dutch Master shipwreck is a historic maritime record located off the coast of the Humber Estuary near Spurn Head at coordinates 53 34.218 N, 0 5.096 E. Originally reported as a sinking following a maritime incident in January 1971, the vessel underwent extensive salvage operations. The Dutch Master was successfully lifted by the crane ship Magnus III and subsequently beached in a cradle near Cleethorpes before being towed to Rotterdam by the tug Argus 5 in February 1971. Modern hydrographic surveys conducted in 2011 and 2021 by Clinton Marine Survey and Netsurvey have confirmed that the wreck is no longer present at the site. Repeated sonar and multibeam dataset scans describe the seabed at these coordinates as flat sand with no further wreckage or structural debris located.
