Simplified Wreck Survey

Wreck of the Craigie Lee Stern located at coordinates 52 18.927 S, 59 24.443 W near Bull Point in the Bay of Harbours in the Falkland Islands. The remains of the Craigie Lee were first reported by HMS Endurance in May 1970 and later examined by HMS Protector in September 1985. The wreckage serves as a prominent landmark and fixing point in the local coastal landscape, visible from a short distance under direct sunlight.

H3496/85 18.9.85 WKGE OF 'CRAIGIELEA' [SIC] IN 521855S, 592411W IS PROMINENT & CONSTITUTES A USEFUL FIXING POINT IN A FEATURELESS LANDSCAPE. RECOMMEND IT BE CHARTED. (QHM FALKLAND ISLANDS, HN 10/85, DTD 17.8.85). CHART AS ST. BR STD. H3496/85 25.10.85 EXAM'D 10.9.85. FIRST SIGHTED IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT AT A DISTANCE OF 5M. HOWEVER WK DOES NOT STAND OUT AGAINST BACKGROUND SKYLINE & IDENTIFICATION IS DIFFICULT WHEN IT IS IN SHADOW. POSN: 521855S, 592411W. (HMS PROTECTOR, HN 3/85, DTD 10.9.85). NFA.

VESSEL, ON PASSAGE FROM MALDEN ISLANDS FOR ENGLAND WHEN WRECKED ON BULL PT. PART WAS TAKEN INTO THE COVE WHERE IT NOW LIES ON THE SHORE. NAME OF THIS VESSEL IS VARIOUSLY GIVEN AS 'CRAIGE LEE', 'CRAIGIE LEE', & 'CRAIGIELEA'.
