Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck known possibly as the Clara is an underwater obstruction located at coordinates 50 0.684 N, 5 37.312 W off the coast of Cornwall, England, near the Runnel Stone. Sunk during World War I, the historic marine wreck has a complex survey history featuring various depth measurements and positional updates recorded by the UK Hydrographic Office. Early hydrographic reports charted the site as a dangerous wreck with differing least depths, while later sonar and echosounder investigations placed the obstruction at varying depths of around 56 meters. Although multiple fishing vessel reports and magnetometer readings over the decades suggested a substantial ferrous structure, a multibeam survey conducted in September 2016 failed to locate the wreck, leading authorities to mark the site as dead.
