VESSEL, BUILT 1938 BY GREENOCK DOCKYARD CO. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY CLAN LINE. ON PASSAGE FROM CLYDE & GIBRALTAR FOR MALTA, ACTING AS AN AUXILIARY TRANSPORT. WAS IN CONVOY 20M N OF ZEMBRA ISLAND. ATTACKED BY AIRCRAFT & SUNK BY AERIAL TORPEDO. 18 CREW & PASSENGERS WERE LOST, 70 CREW, 19 GUNNERS & SEVEN PASSENGERS MADE PRISONER OF WAR. (DODS).
