THE NOW DEFUNCT WESTERN MARINE SALVAGE CO. AND THE GROUND SEAS HAVE SMASHED WK TO PIECES. DEPTHS RANGE FROM 100-120FT. SKETCH SHOWS CURRENT STATE OF WK TO SW OF RUNNELSTONE. PROPSHAFT TO W, ANCHOR TO E, WITH BOILERS IN CENTRE. AREA SURROUNDED BY WRECKAGE. (CPO R LARN, RNAS CULDROSE, 15.9.70) NCA. H2979/74 16.6.76 BOW SECTION & WK OF KUL PLOTS IN 500128N, 054018W USING DECCA. THE BOW SECTION, ROUGHLY 30% OF TOTAL LENGTH, IS RAMMED INTO THE EASTERN SIDE OF A GULLY THAT RUNS N/S. THE EASTERN WALL OF THE GULLY IS THE RUNNELSTONE ITSELF. THERE IS A LARGE QUANTITY OF DENSELY PACKED STEEL PLATE, GIRDERS, ETC. ALONG MOST OF ITS LENGTH. THE DEPTH OF THIS TIGHTLY PACKED STEEL IS ABOUT 8FT HIGH. STERN SECTION:- IN 500125N, 054018W. THE STERN SECTION, ROUGHLY 50% OF TOTAL LENGTH, IS MORE INTACT AND IN DEEPER WATER. THE WK IS UPRIGHT WITH SOME OF THE SUPERSTRUCTURE IN PLACE. WK LIES NNW/SSE WITH STERN SOUTH. THE SEABED AROUND THE WK IS STREWN WITH MASTS, WINCH PARTS AND GENERAL RUBBLE. (E GILES, 1.4.76) CENTRAL POSN 500126.5N, 054017.9W FOR FILING ONLY. DESCRIBED AS BROKEN IN HALF, WITH HULL RELATIVELY INTACT ON ROCK LEDGE. (BSAC WK REGISTER VOL 5). NCA.
