Modern multibeam surveys confirm the intact wreck lies at a least depth of 20.43 meters within a general depth of 24.1 meters, oriented on a 137/317 degree heading with bows facing southeast, featuring a 1.5-meter deep scour and a strong magnetic anomaly. Historical records note the vessel was initially attacked and sunk during World War II with masts originally showing at high water, partially dispersed in 1949, and later explored by divers in 1992 revealing decaying structures and massive overhangs.
