Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck of the Caledonian of Montrose is located off the coast of the Farne Islands near the Northern Hares at coordinates 55 38.8 N, 1 36.831 W. Historical hydrographic survey records show the vessel foundered on the northern point of the Northern Hares on February 23, 1977. During subsequent marine surveys conducted on January 21, 2002, the underwater obstruction was not located, and the wreck record was officially amended as dead or non-existent with no charted archaeological remains remaining at the site.
