Simplified Wreck Survey

The UK Hydrographic Office historical survey records for the underwater wreck named CACHALOT, located at coordinates 50 44.8 N, 1 34.367 E in the English Channel near the Dover Strait and French coast, document its initial discovery on December 8, 1947, as a submerged wreck lying in 3.5 fathoms of water with a green conical buoy positioned close to the north. Subsequent surveys on December 23, 1948, amended the depth to 0.75 fathoms with a red conical buoy close to the south. Further buoy adjustments were recorded on December 15, 1950, before the wreck data was officially deleted on January 29, 1952, and finally classified as dead and removed from recent French nautical charts by March 29, 1982.
