Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck BARMSTON is located at 50 32.668 N, 2 27.379 W in the English Channel off the coast of Dorset. Originally identified as a mass of flattened steel plates, keel, propshaft, and bow standing approximately 4 meters high, the site lies in a general depth of 16 meters. The wreck is situated approximately 20 yards south of the James Fennel shipwreck. Although historically documented, a 2009 multibeam sonar survey in this very rocky area failed to locate the wreckage, leading to its status being amended to dead. This underwater obstruction remains a point of interest for historical records near the Dorset coast.
