Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck ARGUS 5 is located at coordinates 50 58.233 N, 1 39.85 E off the coast of Cap Blanc Nez in the English Channel. The vessel sank on December 23, 1972, initially recorded at a depth of 25 to 30 meters. Survey records from 1973 indicate the wreck was found at a depth of 8 fathoms 1 foot, later amended to 11 fathoms or 20 meters, marked by a quick-flashing red can light buoy with a radar reflector. Following navigational updates regarding missing buoys and salvage operations, official records show the wreck was salvaged and the marking buoy was removed in February 1977. By April 1980, the tug was successfully salvaged, returned to service, and renamed.
