2.1.71 BUILT IN 1953 BY ARSENAL DE BREST, BREST. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY COMPAGNIE GENERALE TRANSATLANTIQUE SA. SAILED POINTE A PITRE ON 2.1.71 ON WINTER CARRIBEAN CRUISE & WAS PASSING THROUGH THE GRENADINES BOUND FOR BARBADOS WHEN SHE GROUNDED ON REEF LYING OFF NORTH POINT, MUSTIQUE. WAS BADLY HOLED & WHEN FUEL WAS JETTISONED A FIRE STARTED IN ENGINE ROOM WHICH SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE SHIP. ALL CREW & PASSENGERS WERE RESCUED. BURNT OUT HULK LATER BROKE IN TWO. (MSD).
